Sunsuits

Loving these sunsuits from Dagmar Daley as well. The ric rac is the perfect touch, don't you think?

Olives Friend Pop

Totally loving Olive's Friend Pop today. It is a collection of vintage-inspired clothing inspired by proper little-girls’ clothes of post WWII, from a time when little girls looked like, well, little girls. They call it "nostalgic playwear" and it is simply adorable!

The collection was designed by two beautiful Aussie mothers who specify that while their clothes are indeed "special" they are not special occasion wear. The materials are durable and robust, to be worn… because let’s face it, little girls may like getting dressed up, but they love getting dirty too.

I have a feeling this is a brand to watch out for. Available for purchase here

DIY - Vibrant Easter Eggs

I finally found a tutorial on how to dye your Easter eggs so they are vibrant in color. Mine always turn out pastel -ish and I'm super excited to try this one. Megan actually puts a little surprise in hers and it is so cute. Check it out here

I simply follow her instructions for dyeing the eggs and skip all the rest. They are as follows:

These instructions are for the familiar McCormick food coloring you can find in any grocery store, one box of regular colors and one box of neon colors. Each below will cover one egg at a time, you can either double the ingredients or let a second egg soak just a bit longer.

For each of these I used:
  • 2 Tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 cup just-boiled water
  • 10 minutes of soaking, turning the egg over half way through (15 minutes where noted)
red
  • 10 drops neon pink
  • 1 drop neon purple
  • 2 drops red
orange
  • 20 drops yellow
  • 5 drops red
  • soak for 15 minutes
yellow
  • 15 drops yellow
  • 2 drops neon green
  • soak for 15 minutes
green
  • 20 drops neon green
  • 2 drops neon blue
  • 1 drop green
  • soak for 15 minutes
blue
  • 6 drops neon blue
  • 1 drop blue
purple
  • 7 drops neon blue
  • 5 drops neon pink
magenta
  • 10 drops neon pink
  • 2 drops neon purple
If you’d like to make your own colors know that I found starting with neon colors and adding regular colors to tone those down worked the best in most cases for me.

Have fun friends!

Easter reads

One thing I will never forget about my little boys childhood is our reading time. It is something that just naturally happens every single day. We love it, and could sit together for several minutes (thats a long time for us). Him because he loves the pictures and stories, and Me because he will snuggle me the entire time. (I don't get much of that these days with a busy 18 month old). We headed over to the public library yesterday and picked up all my favorite Easter reads. Those I share with you today.

This one is my favorite. A bit over my little guys head, but I mostly checked it out for me anyway. If you haven't read this one, it is a must.

Love this one as well. The illustrations are tender

A classic boardbook that everyone should own as well.

This is a new one I haven't read before. The illustrations are cute and the story is quite funny.

This one has a sweet, religous message. The illustrations are cute too.

What are your favorite Easter reads?

Easter best

There are so many wonderful things about spring that I love. For today it is Easter attire. Growing up we received a new spring outfit every Easter morning. My husband and I have continued that tradition in our family and I just love to peruse for months before in search of the perfect little outfit. Here are just a few I'm swooning over.

Fun snacks for kids

Kids love to have fun, so why not make the dreaded mealtime more fun?

Dip - Kids love to dip...no doubt about it. It is my experience that if you give a child dip with anything, they will eat it. Here are some awesome recipes for healthy, yummy dips

Kabobs - With a little wooden stick you can turn any meal into a kabob. It's fun, different, and your kids will love it. If  your meal doesn't work on the kabob, try using a toothpick. They are fun to eat with too.

Quesadillas - You can hide almost anything inside a quesadilla and your kids will eat it. My favorite is sweet potato, black beans and carrots. Not all together of course, but just one petit serving with cheese underneath that tortilla will do just the trick. I also put in a little cilantro to add some flava flav.

Yogurt pops - If your little one isn't a big on eating a particular fruit, throw it in the freezer with some yogurt and a pretzel as the stick, and bam. You have a popcicle. I even prefer these over ice cream now. The combo of the sweet and salty is perfect. So yummy, and healthy.
